| Sharks Announce 2013 Charity Partners | ||

The Sharks are proud to announce they have entered into Official Charity partnerships for the 2013 NRL season with the McGrath Foundation and Sutherland Shire organisation Project Youth. Both partnerships were announced at the Sharks Season Launch held at Sharkies Leagues club last night. The McGrath Foundation will become the Sharks National Charity Partner, with Project Youth the clubs’ Local Charity Partner. As a part of the arrangements, the Sharks will support and help promote various McGrath Foundation and Project Youth events and projects throughout the year. The Sharks are also well into the planning stages of producing a special ‘pink’ McGrath Foundation jersey to recognise and support the Women In League Round. Patrick Woods, Sharks Marketing and Commercial General Manager, was excited the Sharks would have the opportunity to work alongside both worthwhile charities. “We are excited to be entering into these partnerships with two very important charity organisations,” Mr Woods said. “The McGrath Foundation is internationally recognised and do wonderful things in the community and we are honoured they have chosen to forge an official link with the Sharks for the upcoming season. “As for Project Youth, they are a highly respected local organisation carrying out some outstanding work in the community, more specifically in and around Cronulla and the Sutherland Shire.” CEO of the McGrath Foundation, Kylea Tink, is thrilled to have the Sharks show their support of the McGrath Foundation not just during Women in League round, but also throughout the year. “We’re really excited to have the Sharks ‘pink up’ for the McGrath Foundation this year. With McGrath Breast Care Nurse, Kim Wright, based at Sutherland Hospital, the friendship will really strengthen our ties with the local community both on and off the field,” Ms Tink said. While the Sharks will continue to support other charities and community initiatives this season, they will focus considerable time and resources to making their two new official partnerships a success. The McGrath Foundation raises money to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in community’s right across Australia and to increase breast awareness in young women. The Sharks will become an Official Rugby League Charity Partner for the McGrath Foundation in 2013. As for Project Youth, a not-for-profit community organisation that has been operating for 20 years with the aim of providing opportunities for young people to determine their own future, the Sharks will assist with the development of various co-branded programs while also supporting a number of events |
